Dimitra obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences in 2006 from Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and was then awarded with an EMBO Long-Term Fellowships for postdoctoral research on TRP channels implication in physiopathology in Lille University (France) where she currently works as a Professor in Physiology.
During her scientific career, she developed a long-standing expertise on TRP channels and their role in physiopathology She explored different aspects of Life Sciences, starting with Biophysics and Cancer Cell Biology field (University of Athens, Greece) during her basic training and then on Molecular Genetics and Endocrinology during her Master Degree (University of Montpellier, France). She then worked as a Research Associate in clinics on Stem Cell Biology and Immunity (St Sawas Hospital, Athens, Greece) and continued in Cellular and Molecular Nephrology for her PhD (Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen, the Netherlands). Later she worked on the role of TRP channels in Nociception and Thermosensation Physiology and currently in Cancer Biology and Pathophysiology in the University of Lille, France. She was invited Professor in Turin University (Italy, 2017-2018) and in UC Berkeley (California 2021-2022). From 2017 to 2022, she was junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
